Myth Busters and LEDs. Must See!

LED Lighting - Accentuating your Environment

You may not know it, but LED lighting is already in use in an

astonishing array of locations and applications. Color-changing

LED lighting is currently illuminating architectural landmarks and

signature buildings worldwide. Full-color LED lighting is in

extensive use in theatres, concerts, stage productions, restaurants,

casinos, and other public spaces calling for dramatic and

dynamic lighting displays.

Fixed-color and white-light LED fixtures support the full range of outdoor lighting applications, including road and tunnel lighting, sports and arena lighting, street lighting and area lighting, landscape lighting, signage, and airport runway lighting. Well-designed retrofit lamps in a variety of form factors deliver many of the benefits of LED technology to existing lighting systems and infrastructures. LED white light has already achieved light output, color quality, color rendering, and energy efficiency that far surpasses incandescent sources, and that rivals or surpasses fluorescent sources.

Because of its unique capabilities, LED lighting is leading the lighting industry in its ongoing effort to develop truly green, sustainable solutions and market them affordably. As costs come down, new standards, green

initiatives, and government directives are creating an

enormous opportunity for the adoption of LED lighting

around the world.

Accentuation is a leading part of this, bringing to the

consumer customized solutions not available elsewhere,

and at our most affordable prices, and always installed

by professionals.

Overview of LED Strip Lighting

LED strip lighting is a type of light that is made up of a series of LEDs set into a strip that is then affixed to a surface. An LED is a light emitting diode, and they are known for the bright light they produce as well as the different colors of light that you can get. They are also very energy efficient. LED lights, and LED strip lighting, are popular because they last for thousands of hours of use, so they never need replacing.

Options in LED Strip Lighting

LED strip lighting installed by Accentuation is always cut to custom length, and in a variety of light outputs to suit your needs. For example, you can order your LED strip lights that are standard output, high output, or super high output. This means that you can choose a light output that is suitable for your specific application. Accentuation can easily install your LED strip lighting to match your needs and your décor. And best of all? You can order your LED strip lights in the standard white light but you can also get it in configurations that change the lighting colors (RGB) according to the program they are running on.

The beauty of LED strip lighting is how versatile it is. It is great for decorative lighting applications but if it is installed in the right place, it’s also excellent task lighting. An excellent use for LED strip lighting is to install it underneath your overhead kitchen cabinets so that the light shines directly onto your work surfaces. You can also use it inside display cabinets or underneath shelves to illuminate the objects that are being displayed. LED strip lighting can also be used to illuminate the underneath of bench tops, in your landscape, as part of your pool or spa lighting, to help light artwork and more. Your LED strip lighting can be used indoors or outdoors.

RGB Strip Lighting

An addressable RGB LED strip is like a one pixel high color screen. You can do

awesome things with them: crazy lighting effects, information displays and even

low resolution video. There are many different types of RGB LED strips on the

market. We will review a bit about different controller chips, electrical

specifications and software libraries to help you make a choice. In short, an

addressable RGB LED strip is a long flexible strand of LEDs each of which can

be individually set to a certain color (hence: addressable). By varying the level of

red, green and blue (RGB) per LED many color combinations can be made. The

chips between the LEDs listen to commands from a controller. This can be an

Arduino or other microcontroller or a controller specifically designed for LED strips.

The strips come in various configurations. Some run on 12V, others on 5V. Some are splittable every two LEDs, others every three. There are different levels of waterproofing (for outdoor or underwater use) and a varying number of LEDs per meter. They also come in different levels of intensity (brightness), based on the amount of LED’s per meter, as well as the type of chip set being used.

Accentuation will explain all the different options you have, and help you make the right choices to suit your needs, and always at the most affordable prices. The list below is grouped by controller chip, their usage and the major differences between each.
